"Communication had broken down between me and a team member. After the first day I had an understanding about what went wrong, my part I played and how to tackle it. It’s now resolved, to great relief. The most practical
and useful course I’ve done for years”.
Introduction
How we communicate with those we work with is the single most important thing that effects how we feel about our jobs.
We’ve all hopefully had an experience of working with a group who are communicating freely and effectively. You feel energetic and enthusiastic and you can’t wait to get to work. You feel supported and valued. You take creative risks and great work is achieved. You feel able to express yourself honestly and feel heard.
We’ve all also probably experienced the opposite. When constructive communication breaks down with those we work with can lead us to feeling depressed and unmotivated.
How to maintain positive communication, even under times of pressure, is therefore vital for everyone concerned.
Aims & Objectives (This course can be half a day, one day, or two days)

- Find ways of saying ‘no’ and making requests.
- Improve their listening and empathic skills.
- Have increased their influencing and negotiation skills.
- Share stories and learn from each other!

Feedback
"Milly was fantastic. She worked well at making us all feel confident and finding communication skills we didn’t know we had. Thank you." (Royal Borough Kensington & Chelsea council)
"The course was really excellent. Milly put everyone at ease, giving everyone opportunity to try out what they felt comfortable doing. Sharing stories, learning from each other, understanding the psychological reasons behind certain behaviour. I couldn’t recommend her more highly." (Oxford City Council)
"I have never been able to speak up in meetings, saying no to my manager (or colleagues) or express what I really want very clearly. I now feel equipped to do all these things, and have already put many of them into practice." (Oxford University)
